VUC recommended by Italian professor

Sist oppdatert 19.03.2010 av Jon Olav Skålid

Matteo Joseph Kapiris and Paolo Calabrese have been in Vestfold at Vestfold University College (VUC) for 6 months, doing their final research for their Masters degree in microsystems in biomedicine.

Paolo and Matteo and the Norwegian winterPaolo explains: I have been abroad for the first time alone. This means I have had to plan my days myself, do my own cooking, do my laundry and so on – e very useful experience. I have improved my English, and I have learnt Spanish, since I have got a Spanish girl friend.

Matteo stresses the fact that back home they study a lot, and in Norway he had the opportunity to practice the therory studied.

In VUC they were put in a group with other students from several countries: Norway, China, Viet Nam – and they worked I a project with strong commercial interests involved. – This was kind of scary, he says. – what if it didn’t work? But it worked and we are very happy to have been here.

They both come from the Polytechnical University of Torino, Italy, and came to Vestfold because their professor recommended the facilities here, and because researchers from the VUC were in Torino and made a very good impression.

In addition to praising their professor Tao Dong for his work, they are both very happy to have had this experience.

And now it is back to Torino and the final exam in May.
