Academic Requirements for Admission to Undergraduate Courses Taught in English

  • Here are the academic requirements for admission to undergraduate courses taught in English. In addition, you  will also have to fulfill the requirements for proficiency in English language (see below).

Requirements for Proficiency in English Language

All courses in Vestfold University College require a certain level of proficiency in English. Read here how you may document this.

Requirements for Residence Permit/Visa for Study Purposes

It is the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration which issues the residence permits for study purposes. Read more about the requirements here.

Documentation

All documents must be officially certified copies of certificates, diplomas, transcripts etc. in the original language and authorised translations of these if the original documents are not in English. Note: if your educational background is from countries outside EU/EAA, your transcripts MUST be sent directly from your university in a sealed envelope.

All the supporting documents must reach the Vestfold University College by 1 September (Spring semester),  or by 1st of April (Fall semester/full year)

The deadline for Spring semester has passed - we post a new application form here for Fall semester 2011 after Christmas.

Application Deadlines

Fall semester and a full year: 1 March.

Spring semester: 1 September.

Please, try to make sure your TOEFL or IELTS score is ready by this date.

Checklist Before You Send the Application

 Your application should include:

  • Signed application form
  • Official certified copy of passport
  • Recent photograph
  • Official credentials and transcripts from your educational background in original language with a certified translation to English or a Scandinavian language (diplomas and transcripts or relevés de notes). 
  • English language proficiency test score (original or certified copy), see English proficiency requirements 
  • For non-EU/EEA applicants: Official copy of bank statements which document the possession of at least NOK 8 900 per month of intended study (NOK 89 000 for two semesters of intended study Spring 2010), or official copy of documentation of grant/scholarship. See documentation of financing below. 

Note: you will have to enroll in courses carrying a minimum of  30 ECTS per semester to be able to fulfill the requirements for residence permit for study purposes. More information about residence permits: www.udi.no.

    In order for you to qualify for admission into any courses at VUC , you will need to provide documentation of your proficiency in the English language. This requirement is valid for graduate courses (Master Programmes).
