History and Sociology Studies at Vestfold University College
From the past up to the present! From the early Middle Ages until today’s modern society. Historical insight is an important part of understanding the present day. Knowledge of history and sociological comprehension are keystones of understanding what our society is based on today.
History
Would you like to go deeper into the background that our time is based on? History is an enormous subject area. You will learn about urbanization, Europeanization and globalization.
As a historian, you have many job possibilities. You can work as a cultural worker or as a historical consultant. You can work within public administration, in the travel industry sector and in international organizations. History is also relevant for journalists and teachers.
Sociology
With us, you will learn more about what characterises modern society --- about cooperation, social tensions and conflicts throughout the ages. You will learn to ask questions about ”accepted truths” of society at large.
With an education in sociology, you will be able to work in various fields. You can, among other things, work in research, investigations, planning and consultant work in the private and public sectors. Other fields of activity are personnel administration and organization development.
In History and Sociology Studies, we offer:
- Bachelor's degree in History
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology
- Examination in the History of Philosophy and Science / General Preparatory Exam
- History, 1-year study program
- Sociology, 1-year study program
- Interdisciplinary master's degree in Social Science
