Monday March 15th 2010 VUC started using a new email system for our students. We changed from Novell NetMail, an email system we introduced the fall of 2006, to Microsoft Live@edu.
For the users this meant more functionality and also more storage space. The only limit which decreased was the limit for the attachment size. Novell NetMail was configured to accept attachments of a total of 40MB per email. In Live@edu this limit is 25MB.
Which changes does this imply for the individual student?
Microsoft Live@edu is much the same as the regular Windows Live services which can be used by anyone. Here are some main characteristics about Live@edu:

How to start using Live@eduUsername and passwordThe password you need to log on to your Live@edu account is not the same as the other IT services at HiVe. You can find your Live@edu username and password like this:(You only need to to this once.)
IMPORTANT! There is no password synchronisation between your Feide password and your Live@edu password. Thus, you need to maintain two password. You still need to use your local Feide username and password to log on to the other IT services at HiVE. Your email address and Live password is only to be used to log on to the Live@edu system.

Live@edu is already used by many universities and colleges around the world. Microsoft has thus created a number of help pages already. After you log in to http://outlook.com/student.hive.no you can click on the question mark icon on the top right side on the page, to enter the help pages.
