The BIO Laboratory

The laboratory has the basic equipment that is required for the cultivation and observation of stem cells in vitro, as well as a new fluorescence microscope. The laboratory has regular users at PhD and master’s levels, and is used in addition to laboratory exercises in the BioMEMS course at Master’s Level (BIM2MET) course.

The equipment includes:

  • Sterile benches, class 2 – EF/S 4, Clean Air Techniek B.V.
  • CO2 incubator – Binder CB150
  • Fluorescence microscope - Olympus IX51 with 100W transmitted illumination, 100W HBO reflected illumination, fluorite objectives and phase contrast
  • Photographic equipment – DP71 cooled camera, 12M Pixel
  • Light microscope – Nikon Diaphot, phase contrast with photographic equipment
  • Refrigerated Centrifuge – Eppendorf 5702R
  • Autoclave – Certoclav CV-EL 12 L GS 12 litre.
  • Aspiration system – Vacusafe IBS Integra Bioscience
  • Syringe pumps - Genie plus, Kent Scientific Corporation
  • Refrigerator/freezer
  • Pipettes, fillers and sterile equipment for single use
