Welcome to Our New International Students!

Sist oppdatert 04.02.2012 av Maija Heinilä

Some 26 students from 8 countries have started their study exchange at Vestfold University College.

The new international students have finally arrived. On Wednesday some 26 students were gathered for the Orientation Day. This Spring we have welcomed new students from Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland, China, Poland, USA and Sweden. These students will be joining the other 100 international students already studying in Norway. Most of our new students are so called exchange students, coming via Erasmus, Isep and bilateral exchange programs.

The Orientation Day-program included a warm welcome by the Vise Rector of Education, Anne Fængsrud. Professor Eva Mågerø gave a captivating lecture on Norwegian values as well. The students were especially facinated by "matpakke" -consept  - Norwegian people are unique in this regard. The Norwegian custom of calling even the professors by their first name caused some wonderment.

The international office together with the coordinators and the student buddies led by Jon Smith Johansen, will make sure all the practical tasks of becoming a student at VUC are taken care of. The student buddies have many fun activities planned for our international student such as cabin trips, trips to Oslo, bowling etc.

The international office provides the students with the opportunity to learn basic Norwegian - the course is taught twice a week the next ten weeks.

A warm welcome to our new international students!

    27.04.2012

While reports on waterborne infections with protozoa, bacteria and viruses are frequent worldwide, monitoring of these pathogens in water remains challenging.
