The course consists of three modules within culture, nature and arts and crafts. There will be contributions from five different disciplines to the course. Not all disciplines will be represented with a 10 ECTS module each time the course runs.
The students will develop understanding how embodies experiences with materials contribute to learning. Through pracitical approach they will experience how materials' affordances and resistance challenge them to think in new ways and to get familiar with own aesthetic learning process. These insights, togheter with theoretical knowledge, will on one hand help them understand the importance of crafing for human survival, and on the other hand help them develop ecological attitude towards nature.
In this module students acquire knowledge and understanding of Norwegian outdoors and outdoor activities in a historical and contemporary perspective. It will focus on practical skills and experience-based learning of outdoor activities. The course also aims to establish contrasting perspectives on the topics raised and to increase the students' competence in comparing the practice of outdoor activities of Norway with the cultures of their home countries. This will make it possible to discuss similarities and dissimilarities between the known and the unknown, and to arrange professional encounters between the different cultures that the students represent.
Preschool teacher students, teacher students, other students with interest in Norwegian culture and nature and experience- based learning.
Foreign students who have finished a minimum of one year of studies from university or university college (60 ECTS) in their home countriesand Norwegian students. A certain proficiency in English is required in order to benefit from the course.
