Upon arrival, you will receive an infomation folder with useful information on VUC, the town you live in, the bus schedules and so on. This folder also includes the International Student Guide.
The student tutors are ready to help you with your practical matters. The head of this group is Mariann Sethne mariann.sethne@student.hive.no.
You will be given your s-number which enables you to access the internet and student services on the net. Note: this number is only valid within our campus and is not your social security number.
By attending the mandatory Orientation Day you will receive information on how to log into the StudentWeb and receive access to your school email and other systems. If you are unable to attend the orientation, kindly follow the instructions here.
All our exchange and degree-seeking students (apart from the students that are staying less than 3 months) are required to present themselves at the police station within 7 days of arrival.
NOTE: It is only the police station in Tønsberg that handles residence permits. The address is Baglergaten 2, 3111Tønsberg
Students staying more than 6 months are required to acquire a Norwegian Social Security number. You cannot open a bank account without this number (or for quota students, get a loan from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund). Please, apply for this number as soon as you have been to the police office. See the directions in the “International Student Guide”.

Remember to rent a bicycle at the library for NOK 125 per month. Bicycling is very popular mode of transportation in Norway, and it is common to commute by bike.
Remember to sign up for activites which specifically require signing up beforehand .
If you are staying more than six months in Norway you need to apply for a Norwegian social security number.
